Counterfeit currency of Rs 10 lakh face value seized in Malappuram; 3 held
Malappuram: Police on Sunday arrested three men from Kondotty here and seized counterfeit currency to the tune of Rs 10 lakh from them.
The arrested were identified as Pandikkad native Amir Khan, Karuvarakundu native Moideenkutty and Thuvvur native Basheer.
Acting on secret information, the police had been monitoring the gang. On learning that the trio would come to the spot in a car with the counterfeit currency, the police intensified vehicle checks.
Later, the officials caught the trio when they were transporting the counterfeit currency in a car. The counterfeit notes were in the denominations of 500 and 2000. Police also seized the car and a printing machine from the trio.
It is learned that Amir Khan, known as Hajiyar, is the key man in the gang. The trio have distributed counterfeit currency in many areas in the state. Police are subjecting the arrested to intense questioning.
