Copy of Swapna’s email seeking re-export of gold comes out
Kochi: More details of the controversial diplomatic baggage gold smuggling casehave been recovered. On Thursday, Mathrubhumi News received a copy of the email sent by Swapna Suresh, the key accused, seeking to re-export the gold which was sent to Kerala from gulf. In her anticipatory bail plea, Swapna argued that she forwarded the email as directed by UAE embassy officials.
Swapna had forwarded the email to UAE Consulate General Rashid Khamis Al Sheimeili on July at 1.42 pm. In the email, Swapna requested immediately send back the diplomatic baggage.
Earlier, Swapna Suresh had alleged that Rashid Khamis made an attempt to send back the gold after he obatined reports that Customs may seize it. Now, Mathrubhumi News obatined the copy of her e-mail furnished as a proof of this allegation.
Rashid Khamis asked Swapna to prepare a letter seeking the re-export of the baggage. As per this, she prepared the letter and emailed it to Rashid, Swapna argued in her anticipatory bail plea.
In her anticipatory bail plea, Swapna has hinted at the involvement of the UAE Consulate General in the smuggling case.
