Cops turn job seekers to bust fake recruitment racket in Kayamkulam; two held
Kayamkulam: Police arrested two persons in connection with an overseas job recruitment fraud from here in the town. Police recovered photocopies of passports and other documents the duo had procured from job seekers.
A police team led by Kayamkulam Circle Inspector K. Vinod arrested Muhsin (34) of Kayamkulam and Thajudeen (49) of Thiruvananthapuram from a hotel here. Police nabbed the duo after district police chief K. M. Tomy received confidential information regarding the fake job recruitment.
The duo had circulated a message through social media that they were collecting biodatas from people searching for jobs abroad. On information, a police officer dressed in plain clothes and pretending to be a job seeker also attended the recruitment drive.
The duo asked him to submit his biodata for an opening in an oil company in Kuwait. However, they could not give any information regarding the company or nature of the job. They also could not provide any documents regarding the agency’s certification.
The police understood that the recruitment was fake and arrested the two from the hotel where they had directed the job seekers to appear before them.
Police said they were trying to swindle money from job seekers after collecting their biodatas. They searched Muhsin's house and seized several other documents.
