Body of youth beaten to death dug up from beach; 2 arrested
Ambalappuzha: The body of a youth, who was reported missing after a bar fight was dug out from Galeelia beach here on Saturday. The police said the incident was a murder and arrested two persons. The officials are on the lookout for two more accused in the case.
During investigations, police took two persons involved in the bar fight into custody. The two said they had beaten Manu to death and his body was sunk in the sea. Police had been searching for him in the sea with the help of Navy and fishermen on Friday.
The youth, Manu alias Kakan Manu (27) was reported missing since Monday night. Based on a man missing complaint filed Manu’s father Manoharan on Tuesday, the Punnapra police started investigations.
The fight took place at a bar in Punnapra Paravur on Monday night. The gang and Manu also fought on the side of the national highway nearby. During investigation, police received CCTV footage of the fight. The CCTV footage also revealed that two men had taken away an exhausted Manu on a two wheeler.
After recovering the CCTV footages, police nabbed Punnapra natives Pathros John alias Appappan Pathros (28) and Simon alias Saneesh (29) who said they had murdered Manu. They were arrested on Saturday.
All three are accused criminal cases. Manu and Pathros had been jailed under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.
The police are yet to arrest Joseph alias Omanakkuttan (19) and Antony Savior alias Vipin (28), both natives of Punnapra. The police had recovered Manu’s footwear and blood and pieces of clothes worn by the accused from the beach.
On Tuesday, police and forensic officials led by DySP P. V. had collected evidence from where the fight took place. The DySP said that based on evidences, it has been proved that the incident was a murder.
