Body of POCSO case accused, who jumped into river, found near Udupi coast
Kasaragod: The body of the man charged with POCSO case was found near Udupi coast. The accused had jumped into the sea with his handcuffs while being taken for evidence collection.
The body of Mahesh (29) was spotted on Wednesday morning. Both his hands were found separated from his body. It is considered that the hands got separated after the body started to decay.
The orange T- shirt that he wore, with the name of a club from his locality, was crucial in identifying his body. The T- shirt carried the name of the club Rudra friends Bhagavathy Nagar. Narcotic cell DYSP Assainar and Kasaragod inspector P Rajesh, who are in charge of the case, reached Udupi to receive the body.
Mahesh was taken into custody by Kasaragod town police on July 21 for recording the video of an under-aged girl bathing. When he was taken to retrieve the phone near Kasaba sea port on the next day of his arrest, that he jumped into the river.
His body was not found although the locals, Fire and rescue service personnel and coastal police searched for several hours.
It is learnt that his body had travelled 130 km in 15 days through the sea. District police chief. D Shilpa had notified all coastal police stations in Karnataka about the incident when it happened.
