Bid to swindle money by creating fake account in ADGP's name; case booked
Thiruvananthapuram: Police registered a case over the incident in which some fraudsters made a fake Facebook account in the name of ADGP Vijay Sakhare to swindle money. The criminals sent a message to a friend asking Rs 10,000. Following this, the police charged a case.
The message from the fake account was received by Ernakulam native Jiyas Jamal. The fake account had the same profile picture as the original account of the ADGP.
The fraudsters first had some friendly chat with Jiyas and then asked to send Rs 10,000 to a friend's account through Google Pay. With this, Jiyas realized that this was part of some fraudulent activity and the account was fake.
ADGP Vijay Sakhare told Mathrubhumi News that an FIR was registered in connection with the incident. He added that the Cyberdome has initiated probe and the culprits will be nabbed soon.
