Bengaluru drug case: ED gets custody of Anoop Muhammad
Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate has obtained the custody of Muhammad Anoop who was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau over Bengaluru drug bust case. He will be in the custody of ED for five days.
ED had sought Anoop's custody to clarify his links with Bineesh Kodiyeri who was already interrogated. It is for the second time, ED obtained the custody of Anoop in the case.
Earlier, ED had interrogated him at Bengaluru central jail where he is housed. Following this, ED had summoned Bineesh Kodiyeri at Bengaluru for interrogation.
Anoop will be interrogated based on Bineesh’s statement. According to reports, ED got the custody of Anoop on Saturday.
During the first interrogation, ED had confirmed Rs 50 lakh was credited to Anoop’s bank account from nearly 20 accounts. But in his statement to ED, he had stated that he has no idea on the source of the money. He had also added that the money was transferred to his account as directed by Bineesh.
After recording this statement, ED then summoned Bineesh Kodiyeri.
It is learned that ED has obtained Anoop’s custody to cross-check the statements.
