Balabhaskar’s death: CBI probe enters gold smuggling case
Thiruvananthapuram: The CBI investigation into the death of violinist Balabhaskar has entered the gold smuggling case.
As part of this, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has handed over documents related to the gold smuggling case in 2019. The CBI is planning to conduct a detailed investigation into the case.
Balabhaskar’s manager Prakasan Thampi and friend Vishnu Somasundaram were caught in the 2019 gold smuggling case. It was found that the two had smuggled gold through the Thiruvananthapuram airport many times. After the two were arrested, allegations were raised that gold smuggling gangs had links with the violinist’s death.
Moreover, Kalabhavan Sobi gave a statement that he saw two accused in the gold smuggling case at the accident spot. Following this, the CBI is expanding the probe to the gold smuggling case.
The CBI is also probing if the gold smuggling gang was involved in Balabhaskar’s financial transactions. Earlier, the CBI had subjected Prakasan Thampi and friend Vishnu Somasundaram to polygraph tests.
