Wadakancherry: An aged woman was kidnapped and robbed of 3 sovereign gold jewellery here on Sunday. She was kidnapped in an autorickshaw by the driver and a woman who pretended as a passenger. They took the woman to a place near Pathazhakundu dam and attacked her to loot the jewellery.
Susheela Balan (70), a native of Vattayi, was kidnapped and robbed. She suffered severe injuries on head and was admitted to Thrissur medical college. The team of robbers stole her gold chain of 3 sovereigns.
Susheela was attacked and robbed while returning to home after attending a wedding.
“When I was waiting at a bus stop in Tirur, an autorickshaw with a lady passenger came close to me. The driver asked me to get into the vehicle saying that they are also going to Vattayi. As he pressurised me, I get into the vehicle. But when we reached Kurancherry, the driver stopped the auto near Pathazhakund dam. Finding this strange, I screamed and they filled my mouth with a piece of cloth. They tied my hands with a plastic rope and hit on my head with a hammer. After snatching my chain, they threw me out of the vehicle,” Susheela narrated her horrible experience.
After suffering injuries, Susheela approached the nearest house seeking help and explained the incident to the people there. Wadakancherry police arrived at the spot for investigation.
According to Susheela, the auto driver was a young man and the lady passenger who was travelling in the auto was hand in glove with the crime.
