Affair with 12 women, sexual abuse, gold stealing; Man arrested in Nilambur
Nilambur: A youth who has been deceiving women by pretending to fall in love with them and later taking away their money and jewellery was arrested. Nilambur CI K. M. Biju and team arrested Ernakulam Kumbalangi native Praveen George alias Manavalan Praveen (36) in connection with a complaint lodged by a Vandoor native woman. The man used to take the money and jewellery from the woman after setting up a relationship through phone contact and making them trust him.
The man was arrested for cheating a woman by sexually abusing her after lacing with an alcoholic drink and also stealing her 15 sovereign of gold ornaments. He managed to bring the woman to a quarters at Nilambur Chanthakkunnu convincing her that they were going to see a place to move after their marriage.
Police said that Praveen was in the habit of giving missed calls to unknown numbers and pretending to have made the call by mistake. Later he repeatedly calls them over phone and sets up a relationship. He also took SIM cards in the name of the woman, he gets acquainted. These numbers were used to call other women. He never gave his photo or address to any of those women.
Praveen told police that he maintains relationship with 12 women from Malappuram, Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram districts and some of them are accommodated in rented quarters in different places. He was arrested from Kozhikode railway station. The police also reached Mangalore, following Praveen who keeps travelling to Mangalore and Delhi.
