54-day-old baby attacked by father remains critical, unconscious
Ernakulam: The child, who got injured after being thrown from the bed by her father, remains unconscious and in critical condition. The baby is currently undergoing treatment at ICU in Kolenchery Medical Mission Hospital.
“The child suffered brain haemorrhage, build-up of fluid in the brain and bruises on legs. At present, treatments are being given to control the pressure on the brain,” said Dr Sojan Iype in Kolenchery Medical College.
The doctor also reported that the child was unconscious when she was taken to the casualty by her parents.
“The parents informed that she got injured after falling from the cot. But when the doctors questioned them based on suspicion, they lied that the child accidentally injured the child when they used the mosquito bat. Following this, the hospital authorities informed the police, said the doctor.
Within two hours, Puthenkurish police registered a medico-legal case.
The doctor confirmed that the child suffered internal and external bleeding on the brain.
“The child is continuously suffering seizures. Medicines are being administered to control the seizure. At present, we can not confirm anything more about the child’s condition,” said the doctor.
