4 kg of gold worth Rs 2.2 crore seized at Kozhikode railway station
Kozhikode: A special team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized over 4 kilograms of gold from Netravati Express at Kozhikode railway station.
The RPF team took Rajasthan native Ramesh Singh Rajawat (28) in connection with the incident. Although Ramesh produced documents for half of the gold, the RPF is of the view that the documents are not correct and the gold is illegal.
During questioning, Ramesh revealed that the gold was brought from Mumbai to be distributed to traders in Kozhikode. The seized gold is valued at Rs 2.20 crore.
In view of the upcoming Assembly polls, a special team was formed under Palakkad division divisional security commissioner Jethin Raj one week ago. The team seized the gold and nabbed the accused.
