4 arrested for poaching wild boar in Palode
Palode: Palode wild life authorities nabbed four men for poaching wild boars and later selling it in the city at exorbitant prices. S Shibu (44), R Sabu (44), J Jalel (36) and P Santhosh (35) were arrested in relation to the case.
The culprits along with the boar were caught by a forest department team led by Palode range officer V Ajith Kumar. The accused poached the boar near Peringammala Oruparakari. The trapped boar was cut to pieces and the flesh brought to the city. Usually, the meat is sold at Rs 700 per kilogram.
The officers were observing the forest area closely for 2 weeks as they were given information about the activity. Poaching of wild boars was gradually on the rise in Idinjar, Idavam, Manachaland Mangayam areas. A car and two scooters that were used to transport the boar were also taken into custody.
The culprits were caught by deputy range officer Shibu SV, section forest officer RB Arun Kumar, Beat forest officers Shanavas and Nasim Rajan.
