3 kg gold, 25 kg silver stolen from jewellery in Kochi
Kochi: Three kilograms of gold and 25 kilograms of silver was stolen from a jewellery in Eloor. The theft took place at Aiswarya jewellery in Eloor on Sunday night or Monday early morning, as per primary inference.
The culprits broke into the jewellery after drilling a hole on the wall of a barber shop that is located next to it. They used a glass cutter to open the locker. The jewellery owner came to know of the incident when he opened the jewellery on Monday.
Vijayakumar, the owner of the jewellery, returned to his home by 7 pm on Saturday after closing the jewellery. He also owns the barber shop that is located next to the jewellery. It is inferred that the theft took place either on Sunday night or on Monday early morning.
Vijayakumar said that he lost gold worth Rs 1.5 crore and that the power connection to the jewellery was disconnected. Top police officers including ACP and forensic experts reached the jewellery and carried out inspection. Police have started investigation into the incident.
