2 kids killed in freak mishaps, one in a swing ride, other choked to death
Adoor/Kolencherry: Two children were killed in two separate freak mishaps in the state. In the first incident at Adoor, a 11-year-old boy was trapped in a swing and died while in the second incident a 9-year-old boy was strangled to death with a piece of cloth.
Vaishnav, son of Vipindas and Beena of Arookutty Ninth ward Kaavukad, was a sixth class student at the Naduvath Nagar NIUPS school. Vaishnav, enjoying a swing ride at his home, was accidently strangled to death when he got trapped in its ropes. Some of his friends found him later and he was immediately rushed first to the Adoor hospital and then to a Kochi hospital but his life could not be saved. Autopsy was conducted at the Ernakulam general hospital and the last rites held.
In the second incident, a 4th standard boy Arun was a student of Kuruthi Govt LP school and was choked to death when he was playing with a dupatta which got wound around his neck. When he choked, he fell unconscious and was taken to the Vadavukkod hospital but could not be saved. The mishap happened on Friday afternoon.
Arun was the eldest of 4 children of Johnson-Suma couple. Suma was not at home when the mishap happened. Arun’s ailing father and his brothers were present at home then.
