2 CPI (M) workers hacked to death in Venjaramoodu; 3 arrested
Thiruvananthapuram: Two CPI (M) workers were hacked to death at Venjaramoodu here on Sunday. Police arrested three people over the twin murder and seized their bike bearing the registration number KL 21K 4201.
Vembayam native Mithilaj (32), Haq Muhammad (25) were hacked to death around midnight on Sunday. The duo was attacked while travelling on a bike at Thempammoodu area.
Haq Muhammad was on the way to drop off Mithilaj at his residence. The attackers stopped their bike and brutally hacked them to death. It is hinted that a group of 5 men are behind the murder.
Shahin, who accompanied the two CPI (M) workers, escaped with minor injuries as he managed to flee from the spot.
CPI (M) alleged that Congress was behind the murders. It is assumed that political revenge led to the killings. Police also informed that Congress activists were involved in the murders.
According to reports, political conflict between the two parties was prevailing in this region earlier also. An attack was reported in May here and the accused in this attack were reportedly involved in the murder, said police.
Among the three accused who were nabbed, one is the owner of the bike. Police have been interrogating the witnesses. The attackers arrived at the crime spot on two bikes.
DYFI state secretary A. A. Raheem stated that it was a well-planned murder. He also alleged that the Congress leadership was aware of the murder.
