146 grams of gold smuggled in mutton curry seized at Kochi airport
Angamali: Smugglers are exploring new ways to sneak the yellow metal illegally. A recent incident from Kochi International Airport the other day stunned the customs officials.
A Ghaziabad native smuggled 146 grams gold hiding it inside mutton curry. On being suspicious of the baggage, customs officials found the gold in the curry in a detailed x-ray examination. The gold was concealed inside the bones in the curry, breaking the gold into 108 pieces. Bones found in the curry were longer than the normal size used for cooking. Gold was filled in all bones.
Curry was packed in normal boxes. Each gold piece hid inside bones was around 1-inch in size. Gold seized costs nearly Rs 4.50 lakh.
