Aluva: A major haul of ganja was reported from Ernakulam. Police seized 105 kg of ganja from Angamaly and 35 kg of ganja from a rented house in Avoli.
The officials took three persons into custody. They were identified as Thodupuzha native Ansal (34), Perubadachira native Nissar (37) and Vellathooval native Chanthu (22).
The ganja seizure was led by two teams of police officers led by Ernakulam Rural SP K Karthik. The three men were transporting ganga in 50 large packets inside two cars. The police adventurously chased them down. The three are wholesale dealers of the contraband and have smuggled ganga before.
Based on information received from the trio, police seized ganja from the rented house at Avoli in Kalloorkad. The contraband was stored in 17 large packets inside the house.
SP K Karthik said that a police investigation was on and that they are examining if more people are involved in the smuggling.
The other day, three youngsters, including a student, were held from Perumbavoor with 45 Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) stamps.
