125 sovereign gold, Rs 65,000 looted from house in Edappal
Edappal: A house at Chekannoor here was robbed in the daylight on Thursday. 125 sovereigns of gold and Rs 65,000 were reportedly stolen from the house owned by Muhammad Kutty.
The house was looted when the family went out around 11.30 am on Thursday. The family found the house opened when they returned around 9.30 pm.
The shelf in one of the bedrooms was found open and looted.
Ponnani Police has registered a case and initiated probe into the incident. Dog squad and fingerprint experts also reached the house and collected evidence. Tirur DySP also examined the spot.
Muhammad Kutty’s son Suhail got married a few days before the robbery. The family members reported that the gold reserved for their daughter’s wedding and jewellery of the newly married daughter-in-law were stolen from the house.
The probe team assumed that the thief might have entered the house before the family locked the house and left. The police are conducting probe concentrating on people who are close to the family.
The scientific examinations to get a clue on the robber are in progress.
