Violating lockdown will create social menace, warns Delhi HC
When the Government orders that citizens should wear masks during Covid times, it has to be obeyed. Or it will create social menace and injury to public health apart from the citizen openly violating the government order, the Delhi High Court warned.
Moti Nagar police registered a case when two persons loitered around
without masks. When a policeman asked them to wear masks and obey the Government direction, they quarelled with the policeman and tore his uniform. An FIR was filed.
The two accused challenged it in the Court to quash the same alleging it a false case. The Court examined the evidences and circumstances and held that the two accused are prima facie guilty and their objections were dismissed.
The court said that the lockdown regulations have to be obeyed and violations cannot be tolerated because the regulations are enforced at a time when the country is facing serious health hazards and public health is in danger. The regulations are enforced for public good.
If a citizen violates the regulations, it will endanger not only the health of the person concerned but the country at large, the Court observed.
