Expressing anguish and deep dissatisfaction in the way quarantine centres are functioning, the Bombay High Court warned the Maharashtra Government that surprise visits would be conducted to assess the situation.
The Court found that there is gross negligence in the way quarantine centres are run and is not done effectively. So the spread of the virus in Maharashtra is a matter of concern.
The Court took up the matter suo moto. The judges observed that there appears lack of coordination and efficiency between those entrusted with the onerous duty to prevent the epidemic.
We understand that there is lack of coperation between the officials concerned, the Court said.
The Court directed the government to file a report as to how the officials have discharged their duties. It will be examined and evidences taken to find out the veracity of the reports. If any dereliction of duty is found, stringent action will be taken against the concerned officials.
