Unauthorised constructions are mushrooming in Tamil Nadu and the Government land is encroached, indicated the Madras High Court.

Usually political heavyweights and other organisations resort to land grabbings but now the blacksheeps in the police and other government departments are conniving with others to grab land.

The court ordered that all unauthorised constructions have to be mercilessly removed. It also directed the Government to file a status report earmarking the encroachments.

In certain instances, land was encroached and idol installed to cover up operations. These idols on the encroached land are to be removed showing no leniency, the Court directed. The Court was considering a petition to do away with encroachments.

The Government land is vulnerable to encroachers. That should not be the way for those who resort to such malpractices. The Government shall act swiftly and use force to evict the encroachers, the Court ruled.
