A Murrah buffalo is the star at Puliyathumukku in Kollam now. Named Oottukuzhi Velu, this buffalo weighs 1300 kilograms and has a height of 5.25 feet. The 6-year-old buffalo is priced Rs 40 lakh and has a fans association too. It is owned by Puliyathumukku native Anvar. He takes care of the buffalo as a member of the family. The buffalo requires 10 eggs, 40 kilograms of watermelon, cucumber, vitamin powders and other food supplements worth Rs 2000 per day.
