Elephant taking bath in the river is a common scene in Kerala. However, natives of Kozhencherry enjoyed an ‘elephantine bath’ in the Pamba river on Monday.
Without heeding to her mahouts, elephant Seethalakshmi continued her bath in the river.
The elephant swam to the opposite bank, from there headed downstream for half a kilometre and reached Puthumankara.
Though the mahouts showed a whole bunch of bananas to lure the elephant and made similar attempts, the elephant denied to return from the Pamba river.
The rush of people on the banks panicked the elephant.
After spending four-and-half hours in the river, Paaru slowly arrived at the bank by around 6.30 pm.
