Actor Salim Kumar has a humble advice to the people of Kannur, whom he consider “the most innocent people in the whole state.”
In a Facebook post, he wrote that the people of the state will never praise those who fall victims of political vengeance as “martyrs”. Instead, they will see it as another opportunity to get a day off with the hartal.
It has become a norm in Kerala that if a political killing takes place today, a hartal will be declared tomorrow. All the people here are waiting for this hartal, he said.
Further, condemning the killings in his innate satirical way, Salim Kumar said therefore, those who are out there to kill and get killed should make sure that no murders are taking place on Saturdays and Sundays and other holidays.
“Instead, you should commit those murders on working days so that we get an extra day’s off the next day,” he said while apologizing to the families who lost their dear ones for his satirical remarks.
Highlighting one instance from his college days, the actor said the people of Kannur are the most noble and innocent people he had ever met in his entire life. Salim Kumar said he had worked as a sales representative for a steel cupboard company and used to collect orders door-to-door.
"One such day, when I was collecting orders, one household member asked me if I would like to join them for lunch despite I being a complete stranger." He said the men in Kannur are so archetypal that they never ask for dowry for marriage.
