Pathinettam Padi directed by Shanker Ramakrishnan has various elements which attract the audience to the theatres. Megastar Mammootty, Prithviraj’s voice-over as a narrator in the trailer and cameo appearance of four stars are some of the major elements in it. Over 60 newcomers made their acting debut in Pathinettam Padi.
Pathinettam Padi narrates the story of rivalry between students in two schools. Set in the period of 90’s, the movie portrays the fight between student gangs in a government school and an international school in Thiruvananthapuram.
When students in government school are striving for better facilities and survival, the other group in international school are spoiled brats addicted to drugs.
First half of the movie features the competition between the two groups inside and outside the school campus. The second half of the movie portrays the challenges and changes in their life following the rivalry.
Mass scenes in the school campus make the movie a real entertainer. The fight between the gangs and the related issues will impress audience of all age groups.
Debutant director Shanker Ramakrishnan has given complete justice to the movie with his long-time experience in the industry.
After the interval, the audience will find Pathinettam Padi as a feel-good movie.
Though the cameo appearances of popular stars, the characters of students and the script managed to give a significant climax to the movie.
The newcomers give a promising performance in action sequences as well as emotional scenes.
Akshay Radhakrishnan nailed the role of Ayappan, a reckless boy. His screen presence and body language impressed the audience. The character of Suran played by Ambi is also worth special appreciation.
Ashwin Gopinath, Nandu Raj, Fahim Safar, Aarsha, Nakul Thampi, Sreechand, Wafa and Harini are the other prominent debutants in the movie.
Along with Mammootty and Prithviraj, Tamil actor Arya and Unni Mukundan are also seen in cameo roles.
The movie also has an impressive star cast including Ahaana Krishna, Manoj K Jayan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Biju Sopanam, Parvathy T, Saniya Iyappan and Maniyanpilla Raju.
Best technicians like cinematographer Sudeep Elamon and editor Bhuvan Sreenivasan are also associated with the movie.
Music and action sequences are two other elements which need special mention. Popular music director AR Rahman’s nephew AH Kaashif has composed the beautiful songs which suits the story line. Baahubali fame stunt master Kecha has choreographed the stunt sequences.
