‘Nizhal’ movie review: A unique mystery thriller

Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara starrer ‘Nizhal’ is making headlines as an edge of the seat thriller. As the trailer hints, the movie is a complete mystery thriller which excites the audience.

‘Nizhal’ marks the directorial debut of Appu N Bhattathiri who worked as an editor for many movies.
Realizing Malayalis' interest in thriller movies, the director has made an attempt to give a new experience to the audience.

‘Nizhal’ which is described as a psychological thriller narrates the story by making the audience keep guessing without any boredom.

Appu Bhattathiri has proven that he can handle the director’s job very well. He was successful in keeping the intensity of the mystery throughout the movie.

The story is narrated with Kunchako Boban’s character John Baby. The story takes a twist when John meets a child named Nithin and the boy narrates stories of serial killings to him. John carries out investigations to unlock the mystery behind Nithin’s stories.

The story keeps the audience guessing about the next scene, At some point, viewers get confused about truth and fiction.

The movie also discussed that some matters in an individual’s subconscious mind may turn into facts.

The story is portayed making it more credible to the audience. Every situation and character is described apt to the story. The director was keen to give importance to each character. It must be noted that no character was added without any purpose.

Nayanthara’s character Sharmila also has much importance like Chackochan’s role. Her character plays a crucial role at a crucial phase of the story.

Saiju Kurup, Rony David, Divya Prabha and Lal are also seen in major roles.

Sanjeev S has penned the story. His efforts to make a perfect combo of a thriller movie deserves a great round of applause. Sooraj S Kurup has composed the background score and music.

The outstanding background score elevates the intensity of anxiety and fear as the story starts to unlock the mystery.

Editing by Appu Bhattathiri and Arun Lal also deserves special appreciation.

In short, ‘Nizhal’ is the best thriller you can’t miss this year. Apart from a thriller, the movie will give a fresh experience to the audience as a complete entertainer.
