Rajini is back…'Petta' is a typical Rajini movie. It is a combination of song, dance, punch dialogues and powerful fights. It is a movie that will thrill Rajini fans. Karthik Subbaraj has shown how to present the star value of a superstar on big screen.
The first half from the intro scene of Thalaivar is powerful. Though there is a slight lag in the latter half, ‘Petta’ was successful as it could present Rajinikanth with all his spirit. All the mannerisms expected from Rajini is filled in the early hours of the movie.
Rajini’s arrival as a warden at a college hostel infamous for ragging coupled with the star’s fun, songs and dance with the students are in fast pace. The audience will be hooked by the curiosity to know the past of the hero while the story progresses through small incidents.
Even when there is no novelty in the plot, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar and Bobby Simha have made each scene stunning with their performances. While Rajini-Simran combo became the highlight of the movie, there was nothing more for Trisha to perform.
When the scenic beauty made the first half impressive, the second half was limited to sets. Background score has added spark to Thalaivar’s revenge. Though the continuous shooting scenes in climax irritate the audience, Rajini’s laugh breaking in contrast to guesses will linger in the minds of the audience.
