Tollywood actor Vijay Deverakonda has won the hearts of Kerala audience with his super hit movies like 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Geetha Govindam'. The star made his Mollywood debut with his multi-lingual movie 'Dear Comrade'.
His fans were eagerly waiting for the movie which released on July 26. 'Dear Comrade' directed by Bharat Kamma has succeeded in pleasing Vijay Deverakonda fans as a romantic thriller.
‘Dear Comrade’ portrays the story of Boby, a student union activist in a college. Vijay Deverakonda plays the role of Boby in the movie. Boby represents the angry young man who is rash in his actions. Boby intervenes in each and every issue without bothering about its consequences. But his strong stance that political interests should not intervene in students union activities gives Boby several enemies.
At a time when he is facing a lot of issues due to his rash character, Boby falls in love with Lilly. Geetha Govindam fame actress Rashmika Mandanna plays the role of Lilly. Though both fall in love with each other, Boby’s hasty character leads to their break up. At one point, the lovers get separated and lead their lives in different paths. Later, they meet each other unexpectedly. But by then their lives have changed a lot from the time they were together.
The movie has all the elements of a commercial film with great stunt sequences, romance and songs in the first half. But in the second half, the story becomes mature along with the lead characters.
The director is successful in making the inner emotions of the characters more appealing to the audience as well as the problems they face on the outside. But the audience might feel lag in the movie due to the abundance of emotional sequences. The drawbacks in the script are the root cause of such problems.
More than a mere commercial movie, ‘Dear Comrade’ has a strong theme. Vijay and Rashmika’s presence as hero and heroine makes the movie more entertaining. Both actors fulfil their roles in the movie with their realistic and mature acting.
Mollywood actress Shruthi Ramachandran has also played an important role in the movie. Songs and background score which are well adept to the sequences are the two other major plus points of the film.
Though dubbed from Telugu, ‘Dear Comrade’ does not have the usual deficiencies of a dubbed movie and that could make this film a very enjoyable experience for the audience.
