'Oru Pazhaya Bomb Kadha': A substandard reality show skit| Movie Rating : 1/5
Shafi is a director who followed the style of Siqqique-Lal genre that outlived the changing trends in Malayalam cinema. Superhits like ‘Two Countries’ prove the effectiveness of the success formula Shafi has applied in entertainers. While he got a setback in the recent movie ‘Sherlock Tomes’, this time he is degraded to a deeper level.
‘Oru Pazhaya Bomb Kadha’ is a disaster in director Shafi’s career. The movie had received public attention as it featured Bibin George, one of the script writers of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan’ in lead role. But, when the movie which began concentrating on the challenges faced by a handicapped hero proceeds to different topics like Maoist hunt and training class for making bombs, the viewer will lose his/her patience. It tries to cover a wide range of topics hurriedly within the limit of 2 hours. The film scripted by Binil Joseph and Sunil Karma is just a buffoon play.
The movie which lacks a basic plot is like a reality show skit that is filled with some old WhatsApp jokes and Facebook trolls. The standard of the show is least expected from a senior director who has made several entertainers. Though the movie tries to convey that the hero doesn’t have an inferiority complex about his limitations in the beginning, the latter part of the movie shows just the opposite. The film begins with the Maoist hunt in Uttarakhand. But, the need of that scene is still unclear.
Prayaga Martin is the female lead. She is just passing through the glances of hero and his songs. She has done the role well. The performance of Kalabhavan Shajon who appears as the anti-hero was also appreciated.
