Dileep has played an advocate in ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel’ after the movie ‘Passenger’. When Dileep was a brilliant advocate Nandan in ‘Passenger’, Balan in the new movie is an inferior character. He is mocked by many people in his personal and professional life as he is suffering from stammering. B Unnikrishnan unfolds the story of an extraordinary struggle of Balan.
Balan wasn’t suffering from stammering by birth. The reason is revealed in a flashback story. He was an activist in a party which had a red star on white flag when he was studying in Law College. He had influenced people through powerful speeches. Meanwhile, some goons of a party with a blue flag created violence. As a result, Balan loses his ability to speak properly in an accident.
Coming to the present, Balan was approached with a case through his brother-in-law (Suraj Venjaramoodu) when he was practising as a junior advocate. Balan disagrees to lead the case in the beginning. But, he becomes part of it as part of the circumstances. Anuradha (Mamtha Mohandas), who was a victim in the case, meets him. Then, both of them are caught amidst so many troubles which turn their lives topsy-turvy. The plot of the movie focusses on the struggles of Balan and Anuradha to overcome this chaos.
The director has added all ingredients needed for a commercial movie. Balan is capable to fight ten people at a time. The director has also made some sparking fight scenes as the story progresses. First half of the movie is mainly humorous in nature.
Aju Varghese, Siddique, Bindu Panicker, Renji Panicker, Lena, Rajesh Sharma, Ganesh Kumar and Bheeman Raghu’s presence was significant. Siddique has played as Balan’s father which was a different role from his usual style. The second half has a mood of thriller. Audience have to wait till climax to see the mass dialogues, fights and action sequences between hero and villain. Tamil stars Harish Uthaman and Priya Anand have performed in negative roles.
Though ‘Kodathi Samaksham Balan Vakeel’ is not a realistic movie, audience can watch it without monotony.
