Unnirajan, first celebrity employee, to get warm welcome at Kasaragod hostel

Kasaragod: Inmates of Govt Post Matric Hostel for boys under the ST development department here are excited to welcome actor Unnirajan to their hostel. The actor, who is known for movies including 'Operation Java' and 'Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum', will join in the post of scavenger at the hostel.

The inmates of the hostel including 45 boys and staff decided to give a warm welcome to the actor. They have already arranged a banner and flex board to welcome his arrival. Amidst this, a group of the hostel authority argued that there is no need for a celebration as he is joining the hostel as an employee.

"Unnirajan's arrival has turned a heated topic of discussion among the inmates for the last couple of days," said Payyannur native CV Dhanush, a steward in the hostel.

Meanwhile, Unnirajan informed that he will join duty after May 15 as he needs to complete some works which he took up before receiving the appointment order.

Many celebrities have stayed in the Govt Post Matric Hostel as students. Director Prasobh Balan and music director Jayakarthi completed their studies by staying in this hostel. It is for the first time in history, that a celebrity is joining the hostel as an employee.

Unnirajan will replace Kasaragod native Abdul Majeed to the post. The post fell vacant after Abdul Majeed got transferred to the health department three months ago. The hostel is operational here for the last 37 years.

"Many people have worked in the post. But we don't remember most of them. Compared to them, Unnirajan is lucky," said Karicheri Sunil Kumar, Unnirajan's neighbour and cook at the hostel.
