Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Kilometres and Kilometres’ has become a subject for controversy after its pirated copy was leaked online.
‘Kilometres and Kilometres’ was scheduled to be released in March. However, its release was cancelled following the COVID-19 outbreak.
Film Exhibitors Union of Kerala (FEUOK) granted permission to release the movie produced by Anto Joseph through OTT platform after the movie was leaked online.
FEUOK allowed the producer to have an OTT release for the movie after considering the loss the producer would face if the release gets delayed. At the same time, FEUOK declared that they will not cooperate with producers if other movies opt for OTT release.
However, giving relaxation to only 'Kilometres and Kilometres' irked many people in the industry. Director Aashiq Abu and producer Ashiq Usman criticised the decision of FEUOK.
Now, producer Shibu G. Suseelan has come forward demanding action against the studio which was involved in the release of the pirated copy of 'Kilometres and Kilometres'.
In his Facebook post, Shibu demanded that Anto Joseph, producer of 'Kilometres and Kilometres' should reveal the name of the studio from where the copy of the movie was leaked to the movie piracy website.
Shibu also pointed out the need to take legal action against the studio. He asked how the filmmakers could trust such a studio which was hand in glove with film piracy websites.
“If the studio is not involved in it, people who are connected to the movie will be suspected to have pirated the copy. So the producer must name the studio. As a member of the film fraternity, I want to know the truth behind the pirated copy of ‘Kilometres and Kilometres’,” wrote Shibu G. Suseelan.
He also demanded the producers association to take action against the studio.
