The survivor, who accused actor producer Vijay Babu of sexual assault, shared a post following the participation of the accused in the annual general body meeting of Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) on Sunday. The actor posted “Only fools can be silenced with power, money and fame”.
The survivor’s father had also come up raising severe criticism against the association the other day. He questioned why Vijay Babu had threatened the actor if he was innocent and why he had urged her to withdraw the complaint. He added that the association’s decision to invite Vijay Babu for the meeting was unfortunate.
AMMA president Mohanlal and general secretary Edavela Babu informed that there will be no action against Vijay Babu for the time being. The office-bearers said that action is being delayed as the case is under the consideration of the court.
Earlier, Mala Parvathy, Swetha Menon and Kuku Parameswaran had resigned from AMMA's internal grievance redressal cell, alleging that the organization would not take action on the complaint against Vijay Babu. Following this Edavela Babu informed that the internal grievance cell of AMMA will not be functioning hereafter. A committee with the representatives of AMMA as members will be formed under Film Chamber for this.
