Kozhikode: Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi on Sunday paid a visit to the bereaved family of veteran actor Mamukkoya in Kozhikode. He was accompanied by actor Joy Mathew and the duo spent time interacting with the late actor’s family.
“Apart from being a colleague, he (Mamukkoya) always maintained a very good friendship with me regardless of our age difference. He called me when I was suffering from health issues following Covid-19, a few months back,” said Suresh Gopi.
“Mamukkoya, at one time, was like Sathyettan's gift to Malayalam cinema and stood out for his different looks, expressions, gestures and speech. There was no one like him before. We have to wait and see if someone like him will come in the future. His demise is a big loss,” he added.
Mamukkoya passed away on April 26, following a heart attack and brain haemorrhage, at a private hospital in Kozhikode. The body was kept for public homage at Kozhikode Town Hall on Wednesday evening.
