Kochi: Actor Unni Mukundan on Wednesday told the Kerala High Court that the magistrate court’s remarks in connection with the sexual assault case, in which he is an accused, would affect the trial of the case.

The actor raised the argument in his plea seeking to cancel further proceedings of the case, which is under the consideration of Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Ernakulam.

The case is being heard by Justice K Babu. Advocate Saiby Jose Kidangoor, who is accused of collecting bribes from clients in the name of paying judges, will appear for the actor. The plea will be heard again on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the High Court had earlier withdrawn the 2021 order staying the trial proceedings in the case. The stay order was issued earlier on the basis of the settlement documents.

However, the stay was withdrawn later after the complainant informed the court that she did not sign the settlement agreement and it was forged to mislead the court to obtain a stay order.
