Udayamperoor: Music director ME Manuel (73), who is known for composing a handful of Christian devotional songs, was found dead at his home near Udayamperoor Synod Church.

The composer, who is credited for introducing electronic keyboards in Kerala, had been living alone for the past few years. His wife and children are abroad.

As per reports, it was Manuel's neighbours, who informed the police, out of suspicion, as the lights of his house were not switched off for two days. Following which, Udayamperoor police arrived at the spot and conducted the inquest procedures.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary at Kalamassery Medical College Hospital. The post mortem is scheduled on Friday.

Manuel, who played keyboard along with several singers, including KJ Yesudas, has taken part in music programmes abroad too.

He is known for composing popular Christian devotional songs such as ‘Manjum Thanuppum Niranja Raavil’, ‘Ponnoliyil Kallara Minnunnu,’ among others.
