Thrissur: Popular Malayalam film producer PKR Pillai passed away in Mandanchira here on Tuesday. He was 92. He had been ailing due to age-related illness and died at his residence.

PK Ramachandran Pillai alias PKR Pillai entered the film industry in 1984 as the producer of ‘Vepralam’, directed by Menon Suresh. Pillai produced 14 movies and distributed 8 others. He is also the founder of the production company Shirdi Sai Creations.

Some of his popular films include ‘Shobhraj’, ‘Chithram’, ‘Vandanam’, ‘Arhatha’, ‘Kizhakkunarum Pakshi’, ‘Aham’, ‘Oomappenninu Uriyadappayyan’ among others. His last production was ‘Pranayamanithooval’ in 2002.

His wife's name is Rema. Their children are Rajesh, Preethi, Sonu and Sidhu R Pillai (late).
