Noted drama artiste Ramachandran Mokeri passes away

Kozhikode: Noted theatre artiste and film actor Ramachandran Mokeri passed away at a private hospital here on Sunday. He was 75.Mokeri was undergoing treatment for lung-related ailments. His mortal remains will be taken to Thalassery for funeral on Sunday evening.

The deceased was also famous in the roles of academician, author and actor. He was also the former director of the School of Drama and Fine Arts under the University of Calicut.

He had created a signature style in the drama field which made him a popular face among his counterparts. He has directed many dramas based on William Shakespeare's plays.

As a film actor, he appeared in Malayalam movies like ‘Amma Ariyan’(directed by John Abraham), ‘Ore Thooval Pakshikal' (directed by Chintha Ravi), 'Galileo’ and ‘Pixelia’ (directed by Ratheeh Ravindran).

Many including Calicut University vice-chancellor Dr MK Jayaraj expressed grief over Mokeri’s death.

Ramachandran is survived by his wife Ushakumari and two children.
