Chennai: The Tamil Nadu health department here on Wednesday has given a clean chit to actress Nayanthara and her husband director Vignesh Shivan in the case related to the alleged violation of surrogacy rules.
The couple has not broken any rules related to surrogacy, confirmed the Tamil Nadu health department as putting an end to the row over the couple's alleged surrogacy law violations.
A panel set up by the health department to probe the allegations against the couple submitted its report in this regard. The three-member team was led by the Joint Director of the Directorate of Medical Services.
As per the report, it has been clarified that the couple got married in 2016.
The inquiry also found that the duo had produced their marriage registration certificate ahead of signing the surrogacy agreement.
The credibility of the certificate has also been verified, confirmed the department.
The couple and the surrogate mother have followed all the guidelines related to surrogacy as per ICMR rules, stated the report.
Reportedly, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan entered into a surrogacy agreement with a woman in 2021. Following this, she was provided treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.
