'Ichakka was born to be an actor’, says Mohanlal on Mammootty

Mollywood star Mohanlal has penned a heartfelt note on megastar Mammootty on Mathrubhumi’s Grihalakshmi.

The special write-up grabs attention as Mammootty completed 50 years in the film industry.

“I have a strong relationship of 31 years with Mammootty. I fondly call him ‘Ichakka’. You will find it cliché if I said there is not much change in his appearance. But it is a fact. I didn’t find any change in his body, style of speech and approach in such a long time,” wrote Mohanlal.

We shared screen space in over 53 movies. We didn’t try to imitate each other. Because, more than anyone we knew that we are two different individuals and actors, he added.

“Mammotty was born to become an actor. He was well determined about his goal and path to achieve it. So, he took each step with willpower. Still, he follows film as his passion,” Mohanlal opened up about his Ichakka.

“While giving advice, director Sathyan Anthikkad used to quote Mammootty’s words– The film industry doesn’t need us, but we are dependent on it. Realising this fact, Mammootty conquered the heights with hard work. His every step marked his determination,” Mohanlal explained.
