The Malayalam film industry is expecting to have a theatrical release of more movies soon. Actor Asif Ali has announced the release date of his next ‘Ellam Sheriyakum’ through social media. The movie directed by Jibu Jacob will hit the theatres on September 17.
Interestingly, Asif Ali shared screen space with Rajisha Vijayan in the movie. It is learned that Asif will be seen in the role of a politician in the film.
Meanwhile, Asif Ali’s ‘Kunjeldho’ will have a theatrical release on August 27.
Though the filmmakers have been announcing the release date of movies, the government didn’t take a decision on reopening theatres in the state.
It is learned that the film industry is mulling for the reopening of the theatres with the release of Mohanlal’s Marakkar-Arabikadalinte Simham on August 12.
If the government denies permission to reopen the theatres, it will affect the release of many movies.
In view of the pandemic, many filmmakers have opted for OTT release for their movies. Prithviraj starrer 'Cold Case' and 'Fahadh Faasil's 'Malik' are the upcoming big releases on OTT.
