Kozhikode: Kerala’s favorite star Mohanlal turned 63 on Sunday. In an acting career spanning over 4 decades, the superstar has enthralled us with his mesmerising performances on the silver screen. Acting in over 300 films across five Indian languages, the maverick actor has been honored with two Padma awards and five National Film Awards.
Kerala’s own ‘Lalettan’ was born in Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta on May 21, 1960. Ace film director Priyadarshan and popular singer M G Sreekumar were his childhood friends. The iconic combo of ‘Mohanlal-Sathyan Anthikad-Sreenivasan-Priyadarshan’ marks the golden years of Malayalam cinema.
He is married to Suchitra. He has two children, young Mollywood hero Pranav Mohanlal and writer Vismaya Mohanlal.
He debuted on the big screen playing the villain in Fazil’s ‘Manjil Virinja Pookal’ and rose to superstardom through the Thampi Kannanthanam directorial ‘Rajavinte Makan’ released in 1986. His debut directorial venture ‘Barroz’ is preparing for release. ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, ‘Olavum Theeravum’ directed by Priyadarshan, ‘L2: Empuraan’ directed by Prithviraj and ‘Ram’ directed by Jeethu Joseph are some of the much awaited Mohanlal movies.
Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan wished the veteran actor a happy birthday through a Facebook post. Superstars Mammootty and Prithviraj are among other prominent personalities who wished the actor.
