Director Ranjith
Thiruvananthapuram: The government has appointed director and actor Ranjith as the chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. He will take charge on Friday morning.
CPM State Secretariat had decided to appoint Ranjith at Chalachitra Academy and singer MG Sreekumar at Sangeetha Nataka Academy but the government approval had not come. Ranjith is replacing director Kamal.
Though Ranjith’s confirmation came on Thursday, the decision in the case of MG Sreekumar is still pending. There was a huge campaign on social media against Sreekumar's appointment saying he was a BJP supporter.
A decision on the change in other cultural institutions, including the Sahitya Akademi, will be taken in the coming days.
