'Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea' has entered the 100 crore club even before its release. The movie gained Rs 100 crores through just reservations. Pre-bookings had started on the day when release of 'Marakkar’ was announced.
The blockbuster movie from the Mohanlal-Priyadarshan duo will be released in five languages on 4100 screens. The movie has nearly 16,000 shows each day and will be released worldwide on December 2.
Out of the 631 screens in Kerala, 626 of them are showing the movie. Mohanlal and the team of 'Marakkar' have noted on social media that December 2 will be a historic day for Malayalam cinema and Kunjali Marakkar.
'Marakkar' is hitting the theatres after two long years of wait. Stars including Pranav Mohanlal, Arjun, Sunil Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Suhasini, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Fasil, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu and Innocent will be seen playing pivotal roles in the movie.
Mohanlal had announced that the movie will be released on the OTT platform after theatrical release. The most expensive movie of Malayalam has spent over Rs 100 crores on production.
The movie is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and has won six national awards already. Dr Roy and Santhosh T Kuruvila are co-producers.
