Covid crisis More Malayalam Movies go for OTT Release OTT Platform
Kochi: More OTT platforms will be launched as the theatres continue to remain closed in Kerala. In the last one and a half years, more than 80 Malayalam films have been released on OTT platforms. More than 20 companies have come up with OTT platforms in the meantime.
Their companies are approaching the film producers with attractive offers to opt for the OTT release. The makers of the big-budget movie ‘Marakkyar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ starring Mohanlal informed that they will only opt for theatrical release and wait until the reopening of theatres. But the low budget movie makers are not in a position to wait for the reopening of theatres. Hence, they are planning to opt OTT release for the movie.
Around 35 movies are waiting for release now. As per the reports from film circles, most of these films will be released on various OTT platforms soon.
M Ranjith, president of Kerala Film Producer’s Association said that most of the producers are facing financial as the release of the movies is delaying. So, such producers are ready to release their movies on OTT platforms for any price. Seeing their situation, the Association can’t force them to wait for the theatres to open.
