KPAC Lalitha to Kochu Preman, Remembering Mollywood stars who died in 2022

It was a sad year for Malayalam cinema as the industry witnessed the demise of several veteran actors including KPAC Lalitha and Pratap Pothen. Here is a list of actors from the Malayalam film industry who bid adieu in 2022.

1. Kottayam Pradheep - February 17, 2022

Actor Kottayam Pradheep, who is known for playing supporting roles in numerous Malayalam and Tamil movies,died of heart attack on February 17. He was 61.

2. KPAC Lalitha - February 22, 2022

Popular Malayalam actress and two time National Award winner KPAC Lalitha passed away on February 22, 2022 at the age of 74.

3. Pratap Pothen - July 15, 2022

Actor and filmmaker Pratap Pothen, who acted in about 100 films across four languages namely Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, breathed his last on July 15, 2022 at the age of 69.

4. Sarath Chandran - July 29, 2022

Malayalam actor Sarath Chandran, who has appeared in a number of new-age movies such as ‘Angamali Diaries’, ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’ and ‘CIA’, died on July 29 at the age of 37, presumably by suicide.

5. Nedumbram Gopi - August 16, 2022

Cinema and serial actor Nedmbram Gopi, known for his roles in movies such as ‘Kaazhcha’, passed away at the age of 85 on August 16, 2022.

6. Atlas Ramachandran - October 2, 2022

Malayali businessman and filmmaker Atlas Ramachandran, popularly known on screen for the tagline of his jewellery brand ‘Janakodikalude Vishwastha Sthapanam’, breathed his last on October 2 at the age of 80.

7. Kochu Preman - December 3, 2022

KS Premkumar, better known by his stage name Kochu Preman, passed away on December 3 at the age of 67. He has acted in over 300 Malayalam movies mostly in supporting comedy roles.
