‘Komaram-The Rage of Red’: Bharatbala’s new short film features Kodungallur Bharani festival

Thrissur: Filmmaker Bharatbala’s video production project ‘Virtual Bharat’ released its new short film on Thursday. Interestingly, the short film features the famous seven-day annual Bharani festival at Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple, Kodungallur here. The release also comes at a time when the festival is happening at the temple.

The seven-minute long short film titled ‘Komaram-The Rage of Red’, narrates how a woman komaram (oracle who acts as a mediator between goddess and devotee) goes through the 'kavutheendal’ ceremony associated with the festival.

Archana Padmini is in the role of komaram in the short film which is crafted in a docudrama format. The cast includes Sindhu Narayanan and Rahul.

The short film is written and directed by Shruthi Namboodiri. Music & Sound Design: Sudeep Palanad. Vocals: Bhadra Rajin. Director of Photography: Sudeep Elamon.

‘Virtual Bharat’ earlier featured people behind the boat races of Kerala in the short film titled ‘Thaalam - Rhythm Of The Nation’. It was ‘Virtual Bharat’’s first production and music legend AR Rahman was part of it.
