Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the State Film Awards on Saturday evening. Actors Biju Menon and Joju George shared the Award for Best Actor and actress Revathi received the award for Best Actress.
CM handed over the JC Daniel Award, which is the highest award in Malayalam cinema, to director KP Kumaran. Senior journalist Sasikumar was honoured for his comprehensive contributions in the television sector.
CM informed that the state government is glad to present a film award to a transwoman for the first time in the state’s cinema history. Transwoman Neha received a special award for her first movie ‘Antharam’.
Director and producer RK Krishand received the Award for Best Movie for his film ‘Avasavyuham’ and Dileesh Pothan collected the Award for Best Director from the CM.
Vineeth Sreenivasan received Award for Popular movie; Actors Unnimaya Prasad and Sumesh Moor for the category of Best Supporting roles, and Pradeep Kumar for Best Playback Singer (Male). Actors Adithyan and Sneha Anu received awards for Best Child Artists. Singer Sithara’s daughter Savan Rithu received the award on behalf of her.
Ministers V Sivankutty, Antony Raju, and GR Anil were present at the function presided over by Minister VN Vasavan.
