Kochi: Shiyas Perumbavoor who filed a cheating case against Bollywood star Sunny Leone stated that he failed to host the event as the actress refused to attend it. He said that the actress received money from him for attending an event in Angamaly on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

Shiyas alleged in a complaint against the actress that she refused to attend the event after receiving the remuneration. The Crime Branch questioned the actress in connection with the complaint on Saturday.

“Sunny Leone had withdrawn from participating the event only hours before the schedule. I and the event management company owner are on the verge of suicide due to the financial loss from the event,” Shiyas told Mathrubhumi News.

He also revealed that the actress received over Rs 45 lakh to attend three events.

Meanwhile, the actress dismissed the complaint as baseless. In her statement to the Crime Branch, she stated that her manager had taken the money.

“I have given my date to the event organisers eight times. But they failed to host it on the given dates,” said the actress in her statement.

At the same time, Sunny Leone also expressed willingness to attend the event on any other date as she received the money. The actress told the Crime Branch that the organisers did not settle the full amount offered to her.

The Crime Branch registered the case in 2019. Sunny Leone had received Rs 29 lakh as advance to attend the event. As per the contract, the organisers had to give Rs 12.5 lakh to her. Sunny did not attend the event as the organisers failed to give her the full amount.

Following this, Shiyas, the organiser of the event, filed a cheating case against the actress. In the complaint, Shiyas alleged that Sunny Leone’s manager had received the money in several instalments from 2016.
